The city's Beach Parking Lot at A1A and Pompano Beach Boulevard closes Monday, Nov. 9, for the W hotel. Here is where to park and how the free shuttle works.

The City of Pompano Beach will permanently close its Beach Parking Lot on Monday, Nov. 9. The lot has more than 200 public spaces. It is being cleared for the W Pompano Beach Hotel & Residences.

The city announced the closure in a press release dated Nov. 3. The lot sits just north of Atlantic Boulevard, at the corner of A1A and Pompano Beach Boulevard. The city said the spaces “will no longer be available after Veterans Day Weekend.”

Several trees in the lot will be moved to the Pompano Beach Skatepark as part of the site work, the city said.

Where to park instead

The city named these options near the beach:

  • the Pier Parking Garage, 3460 NE 3rd St., which has 609 spaces (see our pier and Fishing Village guide)
  • the Oceanside Parking Lot
  • designated street parking
  • two free Weekend Park & Ride lots, at City Hall, 100 W. Atlantic Blvd., and in Old Town at NE 2nd Street and NE 2nd Avenue

The free shuttle

The Park & Ride lots connect to the free Fishing Village Shuttle, run by Circuit. The city said it was designed to help ease beach parking demand. Riders book through the Ride Circuit app.

According to the city’s Pompano Circuit page:

Service Days Hours
Fishing Village Shuttle and Weekend Park & Ride Friday to Sunday and holidays 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Pompano Circuit, beach area Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Pompano Circuit, beach area Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The shuttle takes riders to and from the Fisher Family Pier. People inside the service area can also be picked up from home or a business. The city said the vehicles have room for beach chairs, coolers and bags. Its Ford E-Transit vans are wheelchair accessible, and an ADA-accessible shuttle is available on request. Circuit customer service is at 646-504-3733.

What is being built

The city describes the W Pompano Beach Hotel & Residences as a 24-story building. It is planned with:

  • 296 hotel suites
  • 77 private residences
  • restaurants, resort-style pools and a spa

The release did not give a construction timeline or an opening date.
