A free mobile shower bus stops at the E. Pat Larkins Center from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. It is due back on the first Thursday of each month, next on Dec. 3.

A free mobile shower bus makes its first stop in Pompano Beach on Thursday. It will be at the E. Pat Larkins Center, 520 NW 3rd St., from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The showers are for people experiencing homelessness or hardship, or who have limited access to hygiene facilities, the City of Pompano Beach said in its announcement of the Shower Bus on Tuesday.

Who runs it

The city is working with Showering Love, a South Florida nonprofit founded in 2016. The nonprofit has provided more than 70,000 showers and supportive services to people in need, the city said.

The bus will be available during the city’s Community Court session at the center.

Showering Love’s own website says it runs two ADA-compliant buses. They carry laundry facilities, medical examination rooms and a barber station. The nonprofit also hands out clothing, hygiene products and backpack kits.

When it comes back

The city plans for the Shower Bus to return on the first Thursday of each month. The next visit is expected Thursday, Dec. 3.

Confirmed dates go on the city’s Shower Bus event page.
