FDOT started the $1.3 billion SW 10th Street Connector project in August. It rebuilds the I-95 interchanges at SW 10th Street and Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach and expands the I-95 express lanes from north of Sample Road. For Pompano Beach drivers, the report for Oct. 30 to Nov. 6 lists:

  • General lanes, nightly Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.: the two outside lanes of I-95 closed in each direction between Sample Road and SW 10th Street. The first lane closes at 8 p.m., the second at 8:30 p.m.
  • Express lanes, nightly Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.: northbound express lanes closed from Oakland Park Boulevard to Sample Road (re-enter north of Hillsboro Boulevard); southbound express lanes closed from Hillsboro Boulevard to Atlantic Boulevard (re-enter at Atlantic Boulevard).
  • NW/NE 48th Street bridge over I-95: closed since Aug. 2 for rebuilding, through summer 2027. Regional detours use SW 10th Street, Powerline Road, Dixie Highway and Sample Road; local traffic uses Military Trail and NE 3rd Avenue.

The report lists no full closure of I-95 north of Sample Road this week. Check FL511 before a late-night trip.

City project: McNab Road bridge and streetscape

The city is rebuilding McNab Road from South Cypress Road to Federal Highway, including a new bridge to replace the 1959 span, which the city calls functionally obsolete. It is paid for by the voter-approved 2018 “G.O. Pompano!” bond.

  • The bridge closed April 13 to cars, people on foot and boats.
  • The city’s Sept. 16 update pushed the reopening from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1, 2026, after heavy rain. Its Oct. 5 update said the bridge is nearing completion and still expected to reopen by Nov. 1, weather permitting. The city’s Oct. 26 update said the deck is substantially in place, with approaches, retaining walls, lighting, landscaping, paving and striping still to finish, and gave no reopening date. Our Oct. 29 story has the detail.
  • The whole streetscape, with new sidewalks, bicycle facilities, lighting, drainage and bus shelters, is due to be finished in December 2026.
  • Through traffic follows the signed detour; local access is kept open.
