The beach and the pier

The city’s property tax explainer counts 3 miles of beaches, an 865-foot fishing pier, eight lifeguard towers and 30 lifeguard staff. The Fisher Family Pier is named for the Fisher family’s more than 100 years of civic service in Pompano Beach. It is also home to the First Marine Amphibious Landing Monument, which honors the Continental Marines’ 1776 landing. See the pier page for hours and fishing rules.

On weekends, the free Fishing Village Shuttle runs from park-and-ride lots at City Hall and in Old Town to the pier, Friday through Sunday and holidays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Wahoo Bay

At Roy L. Rogers Family Park, 2700 N. Ocean Blvd., the city built Wahoo Bay, a shallow, protected bay where SEAHIVE concrete structures along the seawall cut wave energy and attract marine life. Daily open swim hours:

Season Hours
May 1 to Sept. 30 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Oct. 1 to April 30 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 2.3-acre park also has picnic areas, restrooms, fishing, a boat dock, a playground and a bike rack, and dogs are welcome.

The city also lists many neighborhood parks as dog friendly, including Alsdorf, Bill Keith, Harbors Edge, Indian Mound and Roy L. Rogers parks.

It is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and unsupervised. Helmets are required on the skating surface, along with closed-toe shoes and a shirt; children 10 and under need a parent or guardian.
