Pompano Beach’s tax rate for 2026
The City Commission adopted its rates for the 2026 tax roll, which pay for the city’s fiscal year Oct. 1, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2027, in Resolution 2026-164 and, sitting as the EMS district board, Resolution 2026-167:
| City levy | 2026 rate (mills) |
|---|---|
| General operating | 5.1920 |
| Emergency Medical Services district | 0.5000 |
| 2018 general obligation bonds | 0.2464 |
| 2021 general obligation bonds | 0.1679 |
| City total | 6.1063 |
The operating rate is down from 5.2181 mills, the fiscal 2026 rate, which the recommended budget had proposed to keep. Because property values rose, the resolution says the operating and EMS rates together (5.6920 mills) are still a 3.59% increase over the rolled-back rate of 5.4949 mills, the rate that would have raised the same money as last year.
One mill is $1 of tax for every $1,000 of taxable value, so the city’s 6.1063 mills is about $611 for every $100,000 of taxable value. The city’s property tax explainer says about 30 cents of each property tax dollar paid in Pompano Beach goes to the city. The rest goes to Broward County, the School Board and special districts. Homes also pay a non-ad valorem fire assessment, listed separately on the bill.
The whole bill
The Property Appraiser’s millage table gives the combined rate of every taxing authority. Pompano Beach has two millage codes.
| Pompano Beach total millage | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Code 1511 | 20.6583 | 20.5875 | 20.8329 | 20.5011 | 20.3823 |
| Code 1512 | 20.5588 | 20.4876 | 20.7305 | 20.3987 | 20.2573 |
Your code is printed on your TRIM notice and on your parcel’s page in the property search.

Homestead exemption
If you own your home and it is your permanent residence on Jan. 1, you can claim a homestead exemption through the Property Appraiser. Florida’s Save Our Homes amendment then caps the yearly increase in a homestead’s assessed value.
- 2027 exemption: the timely filing deadline is March 1, 2027.
- File online with the Property Appraiser. The city keeps a summary on its exemptions page.
Buying a home? A sale resets the assessed value to full market value, so do not assume your taxes will match the seller’s. The Property Appraiser has a tax estimator.
How to appeal
The Value Adjustment Board hears disputes over your property’s value, exemptions or classification. It cannot change tax rates; for that, go to the September budget hearings listed on your TRIM notice.
- Start with the Property Appraiser. A deputy appraiser will go over how your value was set; contact the office.
- If you still disagree, file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board by the deadline printed on your TRIM notice. The deadline for 2026 value appeals has passed; ask the board about “good cause” late filing.
What this means for you
- Pay in November to take 4% off.
- The city’s operating rate dropped slightly for 2026, but the tax raised still grows with values.
- New homeowners: file for homestead by March 1, 2027.
