How admission works
From the school’s magnet program page:
- Apply through School Choice. Only one magnet application per student can be active at a time. The window for 2026-27 seats ran Nov. 3, 2025, to Jan. 28, 2026, with late applications from April.
- Academic requirements: an unweighted 2.5 GPA in core classes and state test scores at level 3 or above in English language arts and math, or 50% or better on a nationally recognized test.
- Selection: a random computerized selection among eligible applicants, mostly for ninth grade. Siblings of current students get priority, and students left out go into a wait pool.
- Priority from two middle school magnets: the international language program at Crystal Lake Middle and the information technology program at Pompano Beach Middle. There is no automatic transfer.
- Buses: free district transportation for magnet students who live more than 2 miles from the school and north of Sunrise Boulevard.
